Vanilla Sponge cake




  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup yogurt

  • 3/4 cup white sugar

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 cup oil

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract






  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. Grease two 6" pans and set aside

  3. Sift flour and set aside.

  4. Whisk together yogurt and sugar until smooth. Add baking soda and baking powder and mix well.

  5. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes, bubbles will start to form on the top.

  6.  Add oil and vanilla extract and mix.

  7. Add flour and mix until it turns smooth. 

  8. Place batter in pans and bake for 35 - 40 minutes.

  9. Place on a cooling rack and enjoy.

Note: You can get creative with this recipe and add cherries like I did or it can be used in many other ways.
